Green Weddings
Who says it's not easy being green? Perhaps it's someone who doesn't understand that all our small efforts add up! From using recycled paper to hybrid buses there are things that every bride can do. Here are a few resources:
The Dress:
- eBay
- Vintage / Consignment shop
- Silk or Hemp Silk ready to wear or custom - Selecting a gown from silk, or better yet, hemp silk is a great start! Below are some of my faves from Deborah Lindquist and Conscious Clothing.

Rings & Jewelry:
- Choose items from recycled/reclaimed metals and gems
- Opt for Free Trade and Conflict Free jewelry
- Brilliant Earth Conflict Free diamonds
- greenKarat

Invitations and all print collateral:
- Request Recycled Paper
- Select Tree Free Papers
- Eliminate the inner envelope
- Use a reply post card and eliminate the response envelope
- Electronic invitations or RSVPs (hmmm)

Invitation by Naturally Ever After

Respond card from Dragonfly Invites
Flowers and Decor:
- Choose locally grown flowers
- Ask your florist for organically grown flowers
- Used potted plants in cloches or bell jars
- Create terrariums in apothecary jars
- Use highly sustainable bamboo for arches and huppahs
- Use natural and found items - fuits, veggies, twigs, stones...
- Soy votives burn longer and cleaner and come in custom colors
Menu:
- Choose organic
- Select sustainable, ecologically harvested seafood and free-range chicken
- Adequate, but reduced portions
- Donate leftovers - * It may be difficult to get food and flowers to an organization at midnight - especially after being out for hours. Careful planning is necessary.
Stay tuned for more tips in the future....
