Scentimental

This week I was gifted with Philosophy's best selling Amazing Grace lotion and bubble bath as part of a spa package!

I love how subtle and fresh it smells.  It reminds me of a scent that I chose especially for my daytime wedding several years ago.  I wanted something special and new for my wedding day; something different than my regular fragrance.  I still wear it on special occasions.

If you'd like to create a special scent - something all your own, below are some sites that will help you do it:

Random...

Have you ever been haunted by a song?  For months I have not been able to get the DeBeers "A diamond is forever" commercial jingle out of my head.  The song goes "How can I tell you that I love you, I love you... I can't find the right words to say".  I tracked it down and found that it is a Cat Power cover of a Cat Stevens song - but she didn't record it as a single! While searching youtube.com I found these versions including the second one by an appropriately angst ridden teen....

Dessert Reception!

Who doesn't like dessert?!  A couple recently came to me with the idea of having a dessert reception to cement their 15 year bond.  They wanted an evening ceremony followed by a short dessert reception.  I LOVED IT!  Since the bridesmaids dresses were chocolate I suggested that we carry that theme throughout the decor, food, and drink.  Chocolate mousse, chocolate matinis, chocolate satin... in a lounge setting.

The ceremony took place on the terrace of the Renaissance Portsmouth Hotel lit by live ficus trees and Norfolk's city lights across the harbor - beautiful!

The reception in one of the smaller ballrooms was intimate and candle lit.  We used submerged orchids, cube ottomans, and organza sashes to provide complimentary pink tones, while our small beaded lamps picked up the bride's accent metal - gold.

The menu included martini mousse, petit fors, chocolate fondue, fruit & cheese, coffee bar, and a signature martini - YUMMY!

Amber & Brian

This is Amber!

Amber and Brian are one of the most thoughtful and fun-loving couples I have ever met.  I had the pleasure of helping them plan their wedding at the Lesner Inn in Virginia Beach. It was an absolute blast!  The ceremony took place on the deck overlooking Lynnhaven Inlet.  Ceremony and cocktail hour music was provided by the One Love Caribbean Steel Drum Band - yes you can play "Canon in D" on the steel drum!   Every consideration was given to guests on this beautiful sunny day.  The couple provided bottled water, napkins, and fan programs for guests as they entered.

We started right on time and immediately moved into party mode.  At the reception a martini shooter from Ice Art served the bride's favorite cocktail.  Chris, with Astro DJ, kept the crowd on the dance floor and Brian showed off some of his famous moves.  All the ladies appreciated the flip-flops provided by the bride.

Prior to the wedding Amber treated her bridesmaids to a day of pampering and gifted each of them with these adorable personalized spa towel wraps.

Open House

We recently held an open house for some of our vendors, current brides, and prospective clients.  We showcased some tabletop designs and our new studio space!

To orient you - the more traditional fall table is in our bay window - we change this every week; the beach table is in our reception area; and the red table is actually our conference/invitation/favor assembly... table.

We spotlighted some old favorites like Flutterfetti and and ice luge from Ice Art (serving my favorite Appletini), as well as newer favorites like Schakolad Chocolate Factory who provided a white chocolate shell, filled with dark and milk chocolate shells, among other delectable delights!  The Silver Palate provided their signature shrimp & crab cake.  We were happy to be able to share these with our guests through giveaways.  A yummy time was had by all!
